Description
Slow speed drive system fits entirely inside belt cover on my Walker Turner 900 drill press shown in first photo (NO DRILL PRESS INCLUDED). Reduces RPM at chuck. Slower cutting speeds work better for metals. Larger diameter cutters such as hole saws, paddle and Forstner bits cut better with less heat when turned at proper speeds. Small diameter bits require higher speeds. This pulley while capable of cutting your final output speed in 1/2 is also capable of doubling it making bits under 1/8" must less fragile. Add about 0 value to your vintage American iron.1) Your machine MUST have a column with 3", 3.125" or 3.25" bore. (How to measure shown in photo, caliper upside down, different size example for illustration only). This is typical of many larger 18 and 20" drill presses. If you have a different size, please contact me. Note, adapter will fit bores + or - .032" of the indicated size.
2) The column must be capable of protruding through the top of the head casting. (See caliper photo.)
3) Made for 4 groove pulley system requiring 1/2" belts or 4L belts. (Converts your 4 speed into a 12 speed with both slower and faster speeds.) (5 Step Pully Custom Modified Available in Drop Down)
4) Flipping the motor drive pulley over is required. All of them I have seen can be flipped without machining. I have not seen yours.
5) Adjusting the head height on the column is required to line up belts.
6) Your belt guard (if so equipped) bottom or base plate must not cover the drill press column. If it does, a hole must be cut approximately 4" in diameter to reveal the tube opening.
This item
includes:
Metal pulley loaded with ball bearings, pivot yoke, bronze pivot bushing and additive manufacturing column adapter machined to accept a bronze bushing. This item is made by me including sourced and modified parts. The drill press, belts and my hand are props used to show application of slow speed update kit and not included.

installation
. Only one complete center pulley and column adapter are included. No drill press, no belts, nothing else.
Photo 2:
Example of how to measure your column inside diameter (ID). Pick the size nearest your
measurement. My adapter will squeeze down to .015" under listed size and up to .032" over. No caliper or drill press column is included. Only the center pulley slow speed drive.
Photo 3:
Shown fitting under one company's stock belt cover. I don't know the size of yours if you have one. No warranty is given that this will fit under your belt cover but it's expected to do so. The 4 groove pulley is 4.5" max od and the 5 groove is 5.5" max od. It will be off center but generally over the middle of your tube when setup correctly. NO DRILL PRESS INCLUDED. This is one Center Pulley slow speed drive with adapter.
Photo 4: 5 Step Pulley Option:
Some very large 18" and 20" drill presses use a 5 groove pulley. I can modify the provided cast iron pully with a 5th level. The additional 5th pulley is ABS plastic. We have delivered a number of these units so modified without any known failures. Do not overtighten the belt in this groove. There is no
available
all metal 5 groove pulley option.
Don't buy this hoping it will fit. MEASURE THE BORE of your column. If your bore is different, please send me photos of your drill press, caliper measurement of column ID and model of drill press. I often add new models from requests like yours.

Following information is not warranted. Provided as a record of my experience with my machines and sourced information.
I don't have any speed chart for your drill press. The 4 groove will widen your range to approximately 1/2 quill speed through double. The 5 groove will widen your range to
approximately
your lowest speed divide by 2.4 and highest speed multiplied by 2.4.
Drill Presses I have installed various
assemblies
on utilizing the same pulley. Yours is likely not on the list but here is what I have accumulated in data and
recommendations
from other thus far. No warranty on belts sizes.
