Vintage 1950/60s Original Whirley Whirler Spinining Plate Toy; The Whirley Corp, St. Louis 88, MO.  This RARE toy would be a GREAT addition to your collection of vintage toys. It had one owner; it was mine. Very few of these “Whirley” toys will be found in such great condition.  Maybe you might want to try your hand with this nostalgic & popular toy from the 1950/60s to see if you can make it spin.   It took some practice but once you had accomplished the ability to spin, twirl and juggle this “Whirley Whirler”; you could amaze all your friends [that weren’t so lucky to have a “Spinning Plate”] with your skills! The toy is made of a red plastic type material; it has imprinted words & product identification on the top surface of the toy; “THE ORIGINAL SPINNING PLATE”, “Whirley Whirler”, “WHIRLS”, Twirls”, “Juggles”.  The directions & an arrow are imprinted on the bottom of the toy; “Hold Stick at end with point straight up. Place Whirley Whirler Plate at Pointed end of stick under arrow above. Rotate wrist in circular motion until plate spins and slides to center. When playing with this as a child, I recall that my dad fashioned me a stick to use out of a wooden dowel type “stick” with a semi rounded-pointed end when playing with this toy;

This toy was one of my favorites and was stored in my bedroom cabinet at the family home for decades; this saved the “Whirley” toy from any potential damage from excessive heat, cold, animals, etc. The “Whirley Whirler” was played with and has wear that is consistent with age, use and decades of storage; scuffs, scratches, stains/marks, fading.  (There is one dark mark which can be seen in the photos).  It was challenging to photograph the imprinted words on this toy but I tried my best; see photos.
