Description
Genuine Chinese Jadeite Emerald Jade Carved Pendant Netsuke. Designed with a powerful dragon, a big fruit, and many ruy images on both sides. The fruit is the symbol of harvest. Ruyi means "everything goes smooth."
The ancients believed that the dragon was the symbol of supreme auspiciousness, a bridge between man, Heaven, and the Deities. They thought that the dragon was able to summon wind and rain, ascend to and descend from Heaven, and produce auspicious signs. The dragon even appeared in astronomy and numerology and influenced the passing of the imperial power. Hornless dragon refers to Chilong in Chinese characters. It is one of the 9 sons of the dragon in ancient Chinese folklore. It is valiant. In Chinese literature, it is often used to represent brave and fearless soldiers and fighters.
Very auspicious motif. The carving is simple but unique and exquisite. The craftmanship is very elegant as you can see from the pix. Nice glossy polish. The condition is old but very good. It will be a good gift as well as a cute collection.
