    Description

    Florida Gardens Landscape Architecture
by C. Conrad Hammond, Anita Publishing Company, Miami, 1940, hardbound, 164 pgs. With photographs by G.W. Romer.
I see an aerial of Versailles, Sunken Gardens on Miami Beach, with specific locations sometimes mentioned.
The author delivered lectures on gardening on WKAT Radio, Miami Beach, under the title "C. Conrad Hammond and his Garden School of the Air" which inspired Part II of this book, entitled Garden Talks. Author writes of landscaping as an art and shows how landscaping can enhance the appearance of Miami area homes and other locales. He gives specific examples of those (he presumably landscaped) designed by architects of the day such as  Russell Pancoast, Harry O. Nelson, Wahl Snyder, Arnold Southwell, John & Coulton Skinner, Alexander, Lewis, John R. Christensen, Henry Hohauser, Paist &  Steward, and many more. Very good, gift inscription, pages tanned.
