Description
Up for auction is a beautiful censored cover from Montevideo Uruguay to Germany. mailed in 1940 the cover was censored by British censors in Bermuda who held until the war ended and then mailed it in 1946, German label on back notes why it was delayed for six years.Note the reelased rubber stamp on the front. the sender notes it was going to germany via steamship to Japan and then to Siberia, apparently to evade British war censors. Obviously the plan did not succeed. Very unusual and scarce item. Ideal for collectors of censored, delayed and misrouted mail as well as military postal history. Beautiful stamps and cancels. Postmarked January 1, 1940. In excellent condition. Priced to sell. Very scarce .
