    Description

1927 ☆ MAJESTIC THEATRE ☆ Modern VENUS Contest ☆ Trophy ☆ Essex Silver Plate Co.
The 1927 Modern Venus Contest was held at Coney Island's Steeplechase amusement park on August 2, 1927
While filming on location in Coney Island, American silent film Actor/Director Ralph Ince agreed to serve as the head judge at the 1927 Modern Venus Contest. Ince chose fifteen-year-old Florence Bonn as the winner out of a field of sixty. [New York Times, August 3, 1927]. Filming for Ince's
    Coney Island
continued on location after the 1927 Modern Venus Contest.
There is no specific location other than "Majestic Theatre" etched on the trophy and the Dec. 9-1927 date is curious, as my research has been unable to confirm a specific Modern Venus event held on this date and location. Not to mention Dec. 9 being an odd date for a bathing beauty contest.
Age of the trophy appears to rule out other combinations of "Majestic Theatre" and "Modern Venus Contest" other than those held in Brooklyn/Coney Island.
