Description
This rare and colorful card is one in a series of 30 dog cards issued during 1902 by the Church and Dwight Company entitled “ Champion Dogs ” This series is designated as J13a (small) in Burdick’s American Card Catalogue. One was inserted into each package of their Arm and Hammer and Cow Brand Baking Soda. Each card features a portrait of the breed done by the famous Dog Artist G Muss Arnolt on the front of the card, and an informative description and history of the breed on the back. This card is number 5 in the series and features a BLOODHOUND . This is one of the smaller sized versions measuring 2 ½ inches by 1 ½ approximately. It also features a cross hatched type of surface that gives it the appearance of canvas (it is card not canvas tho). The card has some creasing. I have scanned the front and back of the card fairly large so you can determine the condition for yourself. I have always found the small versions of these cards tougher to find than the larger size versions. This would make an excellent display piece or addition to any owner, enthusiast or breeder of these dogs. It also would make an excellent display piece or addition to any Church and Dwight Collector. Don’t miss out on this rare OVER 115 Year Old collectible. As it is over 100 years old it is an official American Antique.I will be trying to list several EARLY TRADE & TYPE CARDS over the next few days (spread across different categories),
including one or two that are unrecorded in any guide, that were put given away with Tobacco, Caramel, Candy, Gum, Chocolate, Bread Coffee Tea Cereal and other products, covering such diverse subjects as Native American Indians , Baseball , Football, Dog Breeds, Boy Scouts, Ice Hockey, Golf, Presidents of the United States, NCAA and IVY League Colleges and Universities and Circus themes. To view the other cards I have up on ebay please click on the “View Sellers other Items” Icon located on this page. It will take you directly to them.
I am actually located in Canada just across the border. I have a U.S.A. mailing address, and I mail my items from the USA to avoid border delays.
